Gaining New Perspective
Still Wild
John and I took a break yesterday from the farm to celebrate our anniversary. We drove up the shore and decided to go where the wind would take us. We stopped along the Temperance River and discovered a section of the Superior Hiking Trail that neither of us had been on and found our way up to the summit of Carlton Peak.
As we hiked we talked about our life and the farm in a broader context and we gained some new perspective. It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day and not think about big picture stuff. (Nothing like hiking to the top of a mountain to see things from a different view). It was a wonderful way to spend the day and honor our commitment to each other. It turns out, we're still wild for each other and still committed as ever to our farm! And the big takeaway was that we feel like we're on the right track and have been "gathering, nourishing and inspiring" our community all along.
